The Story Behind U of I's Joe Vandal Statue - Documentary
University of Idaho's ASUI Recognition Monument, widely known as the Joe Vandal Statue, is more than a finished piece of bronze. Commissioned as a monument to the Associated Students of the University of Idaho, the ASUI Monument reflects generations of student leadership, collaboration and Vandal pride.
From early concepts shaped with student input, to hands-on sculpting in clay, to the challenges of lost-wax bronze casting under a tight deadline, viewers are invited inside the process of turning an idea into a monument. The documentary concludes with the public unveiling of the Joe Vandal Statue during the Kibbie Dome’s 50th anniversary.
